News from Alexandra Chigrinets 💙
Hello everyone! The news is mostly positive 🙏🏻 Another number on the scale has "given" thanks to the efforts of the doctors and our strong Sasha - 12 kg! Yes, this is normal for a two-year-old, but we've never seen numbers like this before; we gained 2 kg in just over a month. She's noticeably stronger now, and she asks to go for walks without a stroller. We've started visiting other children who are also being treated at Hadassah and live nearby on what's called Russian Street. We were worried about Sasha's socialization, since she never had any friends; she's been either at home or in hospitals her whole life, and she was a bit afraid of children. We needn't have worried; she quickly started playing games together 🙏🏻 The only downside is that we're still on nightly IVs and feedings. The doctors decided to try to gain as much weight as possible with them, since she's gaining so much. Sasha tolerates the infusions well, but daily central line connection poses a risk of sepsis. Ensuring sterility in our temporary housing is very difficult. Plus, there are additional bills; this medication is prepared specifically for Sasha's tests, and the process isn't cheap. But most importantly, he's been steadily gaining weight for a month now, and he no longer looks emaciated and exhausted, which gives us cautious optimism and hope that we can pull through. Thank you to everyone who's helping us. 🙏🏻
