News: Maria Kozhurina 💜
Hello!
I’m sharing the latest news about Masha Kozhurina.
We have completed all the necessary tests and received the results—and they are encouraging! There are no bone metastases, and her bone marrow is clear. The primary tumor has shrunk, but surgery isn't an option just yet. The tumor is located near major blood vessels and involves the kidney; if we operated now, the kidney would have to be removed along with the tumor.
Consequently, her doctor has decided to adjust the treatment plan: perform an autologous bone marrow transplant first, followed by surgery. There is hope that the transplant will cause the tumor to pull away from the kidney. 🙏🏻
The doctor aims to perform the transplant as soon as possible; we will likely be admitted to the hospital as early as October 11th. Before the transplant, Masha will undergo a course of high-dose chemotherapy, and we truly hope she tolerates it well.
Right now, her test results are good; Masha has a healthy appetite and is full of energy—very active and cheerful.
Tomorrow, October 6th, she has an important consultation with a pulmonologist—a mandatory step before the transplant. Then, on October 7th, she is scheduled for lab tests and a doctor's appointment, where we will be given the exact dates for hospitalization.
A huge thank you to everyone who is standing by us and supporting our family! 🙏🏻
