The days following the shunt placement surgery were marked by widespread body pain, a high fever, and difficulty eating. It was a difficult time. One attempt to go outside failed: as Anfisa was being transferred into her wheelchair, she experienced a sudden headache and dizziness, her ears felt blocked, her oxygen levels dropped, and she lacked the strength to continue. On another occasion, however, she managed to go outside for about 15 minutes and—on the way back—play the piano located in the intensive care unit’s hallway. Her strength is gradually returning.
The final video shows an exercise recommended by therapists to help restore fine motor skills and brain function. They had originally suggested using pencils for it. Anfisa actually performs the exercise better than the therapist does!
