Good afternoon!
News from Masha Kozhurina.
On August 8th, we completed the fifth round of chemotherapy. It wasn't easy. Masha was very nervous, hysterical, and wanted to go home. They even gave her a sedative on the first day. She also had severe swelling, but unfortunately, this happens with every chemotherapy session, as they give her a lot of fluids after the medications. We received the MRI results—there's an improvement compared to the previous one! This news is very heartwarming. Masha hasn't been feeling well since chemotherapy. She's weak, cranky, refuses to eat, and sleeps a lot. It's very difficult to see her like this, because she's usually a fidgety girl. Her test results are all normal.
On the downside, Masha's central line (CVC) ruptured (a hole formed in the wire). We were hospitalized and started on a course of antibiotics to prevent infections. Tomorrow morning (August 11th) we're having surgery to replace the CVC. It's a bit nerve-wracking, but even the anesthesia is gradually becoming more familiar. Our sixth out of eight chemotherapy courses starts on Sunday (August 16th). We're slowly approaching completion. 🙏 We believe with all our hearts that after the eighth, the tumor will have shrunk enough to be removed and we can move on to recovery!
Even though she's a little weak, she never refuses to play on the playground or just go for a walk outside, so we go there almost every day. We play on the slides, swings, climb, jump, and enjoy every peaceful day.
